Dig Day - 17th September 2019 - Year 3/4 Mrs McLaren

This half term we have been learning all about the work of archaeologists, and how their discoveries allow us to know about prehistorical life. We read diaries of famous archaeologists, and practised using precise technical vocabulary.

To inspire our own diary writing – we became archaeologists for the day and took part in a dig on the school field. We worked in pairs to excavate artefacts, and recorded where they were found using artefact markers. We were amazed by our discoveries – flints, pottery and even a few fossils – and created some amazing diaries based on our experiences.
